All degree programs offered by the University of Wollongong in Dubai are accredited by the Ministry of Education - Higher Education Affairs through the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA).
This accreditation ensures that the degrees received by UOWD graduates are recognised throughout the United Arab Emirates.
The Commission for Academic Accreditation oversees a rigorous process of review to ensure high quality at licensed institutions in the United Arab Emirates. As noted in the 2011 Standards for Licensure and Accreditation:
“The standards, policies, and procedures adopted by the Commission to establish and operate institutions of higher education and to accredit academic programs are designed to promote high quality institutions and to assure prospective students, their families, employers, and other interested parties that licensed institutions meet standards of quality consistent with current international practice and professional judgment. Licensed institutions demonstrate that they adhere to standards of performance covering all aspects of the institution, follow principles of continuous improvement, and provide evidence of student learning.”
The accreditation process initiated by the University ensures its commitment to quality and continuous quality enhancement. It provides transparency and identification of the areas for improvement, allows the University to adopt corrective measures and to improve the quality of its programs, services and delivery. To achieve accreditation by the Commission, the University must comply with rigorous standards and demonstrate institutional effectiveness against a series of benchmarks.
The CAA accreditation validates UOWD’s institutional standards in a number of key areas, including:
- Academic instruction and assessment
- Faculty and professional staff credentials
- Learning environment and resources
- Organisational governance
- Ongoing quality assurance
- Fiscal planning and responsibility.
In addition to local accreditation, programs are quality assured by UOW, which is registered with the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA), the national regulator of the higher education sector in Australia. UOWD degrees are recognised within the UAE, in GCC and internationally for further education and employment in the private and public sectors.
