UOWD is continually striving to improve the services provided to our students and graduates. A wide range of services within UOWD is available for our alumni.
Alumni Network Card
The Alumni Network Card is a complementary service provided to all UOWD alumni. Enjoy your lifetime membership in this elite group. Check the UOWD Alumni Network web page for updates.
No Application Necessary
Once you complete your course work and are eligible to graduate, you automatically qualify for an Alumni Network Card. The Alumni Network cards will be distributed during graduation preparation events, when you pick up your testamur from the Registrar’s office or you can stop by the Alumni Officer’s office in Knowledge Village, Block 15, 3rd floor, Office 3-15.
UOWD Alumni Network Facebook Group
With your Alumni Network Card, you are eligible to join the UOWD Alumni Facebook page. Do a Facebook group search for UOWD Alumni Network, send a request to join and that is it. The Facebook Group page will allow you to find your classmates and keep up with your friends.
UOWD Alumni Network “Preferred Business List”
Welcome to this new and exciting addition to the UOWD Alumni Network – the Preferred Business List. Your Alumni Officer has put together a collection of area businesses that support our UOWD Alumni Network by offering special discounts on products and services. Check out the web site and see what these companies have to offer you!
Career Development
With your Alumni Network Card, you have complementary access to the Career Development Centre at UOWD. The use of the Career Development Centre is by appointment only. Please refer to the website for contact details. Using your Alumni Network Card, you have access to:
- Individual counselling by qualified career advisors
- Audio-visual area to view DVDs on career skills such as interview preparation and confidence
- 4 dedicated computers for applying to employment opportunities on-line or researching companies
- CD-ROMs and resource books on a wide-range of career skills and career development topics such as CV preparation, leadership, cover letters and much more.
- Employment listings (both full time and part time) are advertised on-line on the University’s website and on campus on the Career noticeboards in Blocks 5 and 15. Alumni are eligible to apply for employment opportunities for up to one year after graduation. To apply for any position advertised, students/alumni simply submit their CV through the on-line employment program, SniperHire.
- Interactive workshops provide intensive information and skills development. Topics include CV and cover letter preparation, mock interviews, personal presentation, how to find employment opportunities and more.
- Mock-interview practices
- Annual Career Fair provides students/alumni with an ideal opportunity to meet with invited companies to discuss employment opportunities and requirements for positions within their organization.
- Information handouts on topics such as career choices, CV preparation, and interviews.
- Specialized guest speakers are invited to speak about specific careers and employment opportunities within that career path.
Library Membership
With the Alumni Network Card, you have access to the UOWD Library. The Library provides you:
- access to over 10,000 electronic journals
- access to the reference collections
- borrowing rights to the main collection
Library membership is available for all UOWD graduates with an Alumni Network Card; library memberships cannot be obtained separately from the Alumni Network Card. In order to activate the library membership, alumni are requested to bring their student ID card along with the Alumni Network card to the library. Alumni who have lost their student ID card need to apply for re-issuing of the card, by paying a fee of AED 50 at the Registrar’s Department. When activating your library membership, you will be required to make a one-time donation of 150dhs to purchase a book for the UOWD library. The library will have a list of books so you can choose the book of your choice. The book you donate will be labelled with an inscription thanking you for supporting the UOWD library and naming you as a valued alumni member.
Computer Labs
Access to UOWD’s password protected internet services including Wi-Fi services (access is available only through the Alumni Membership card)
