Certificates of Proficiency
The Certificates of Proficiency offer professionals the opportunity to take a single subject at postgraduate level without being enrolled in a postgraduate degree. The subjects available for study on a non-award basis include a range of disciplines such as accounting, marketing, management, strategy, international business, quality management, HR management and project management.
A student who successfully completes one or more subjects from these programs will be awarded a completion certificate and an official academic transcript from the University. Additionally, these subjects can be counted towards a postgraduate degree (in accordance with our Advanced Standing policy) should the candidate make a subsequent application for an appropriate degree program. The degree entry and completion requirements will apply.
Program Summary
Certificates of Proficiency are offered on a semester basis which generally comprises of 10 teaching weeks and one to two weeks of exams and preparation. The teaching is conducted via lectures which are held in the evenings commencing from 6:00pm and concluding at 10:00pm.
Lectures are held once a week (twice during Summer) per subject between Sunday and Saturday. Attendance is compulsory.
Assessment for most subjects consists of regular assignments, project work, presentations, mid-term and end-of-semester exams. Assessment tasks usually emphasise group work to develop team building, leadership and cross-cultural understanding.
UOWD semesters are as follows:
Autumn semester: September – December
Spring semester: January – April
Summer semester: May – July
Eligibility
Persons seeking non-award enrolment in Certificates of Proficiencies must satisfy the admissions requirement for the degree program the subject belongs to at UOWD. Additionally, certain subjects may require prior undergraduate/postgraduate pre-requisite level studies to have been successfully completed in the relevant area.
