Bachelor of Commerce: International Business
The Bachelor of Commerce in International Business is designed to prepare students with a good grounding in various fields of business studies such as economics, accounting, management, and marketing whilst developing a core competence in Insurance. The program equips graduates with the ability, tools and multi-dimensional expertise necessary to work as a practitioner in the field of international business. Analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills, through the analysis of real life case studies to understand and apply appropriate methodologies, techniques and strategies, will be a key focob. The program provides critical perspectives on the role and functions of professionals within organisations operating in the global marketplace.
The Bachelor of Commerce in International Business is structured so as to develop professionals to be career ready and able to effectively apply competence and implement strategies by adopting a globalised perspective to enhance the management and development of a business.
The program strives to provide students with a thorough grounding in the areas of business both commercial and international that is required to excel in today’s increasingly competitive and global environment. The B.Com – International Business program develops graduates abilities to
- Manage major business functions based on principles of international business management
- Analyse, evaluate and explain the impact and implications of social, cultural and political factors in the international business arena
- Assess and integrate the impact of globalization into strategic management planning in organizations.
- Develop marketing strategies for an international context
- Set up trading ventures with business partners from across the globe
- Make financial investment decisions taking into account international business factors and manage global business transactions
- Design and implement human resource management plans and initiatives which integrate intercultural and cross-cultural dimensions
- Work in collaboration with diverse individuals to solve business problems by applying theoretical knowledge of international business
- Explain and analyse the impact of recent developments on international businesses
- Apply principles of marketing, finance or human resource management to develop and evaluate sound strategies and plans in the chosen area
Program Summary
| Duration | This course is normally 8 semesters in length. This is based on full time study (specified as 4 or 5 subjects per session). Students may take fewer subjects per session but those enrolled on a University sponsored student visa must take a minimum of 3 subjects per session. Sessions are 13 weeks in duration. Eligible candidates may accelerate their progression by seeking exemption from certain General education subjects through Challenge Exams (maximum of 3 subjects). | ||||||

| Recognition | This program is accredited by the UAE Ministry of Education in addition to being accredited by the Australian Government. It is fully recognised within the UAE, in GCC nations and internationally for further education and employment in the private and public sectors. | ||||||
| Intakes | There are three intakes each year (Autumn, Spring and Summer).

| Class Timings and Attendance | Attending classes is compulsory for all undergraduate subjects. There are 13 weeks of classes each session. Subjects usually consist of a two-hour lecture and a one-hour tutorial. Some subjects have additional workshops or laboratory sessions. Classes are normally held during the day between the times of from 8.30am – 5.30pm, Sunday to Thursday, with occasional classes held on Saturday if necessary. | ||||||

| Challenge Tests | Challenge Tests are available in MATH 015, CSCI 015 and STAT 015. The tests will be held in the 2nd week of each session. A pass mark of a minimum of 60% in a test will entitle a student to be granted an exception from that subject. However in order to be eligible to sit for the Challenge Test a student must have the following qualifications:
