DBA and PhD programs attract huge interest

Tuesday, 7 September, 2010

UOWDs recently introduced DBA and PhD programs have attracted significant interest. Approximately 100 potential candidates attended an Information Session at the Hilton Hotel in Abu Dhabi on 5th September, and over 200 were present at the Information Session conducted at UOWD on 6th September.

Professor Mohamed Khalifa, Vice-President (Academic) delivered a presentation on both programs, covering topics such as the differences between a DBA and a PhD, program-specific curricula, study plans, areas of research available and admission requirements. Sandra Lee, Registrar and Manager Admissions covered the application procedures. UOWD academics serving as Research Specialists were also present to discuss potential research topics with the candidates.

A lively Question & Answer session followed the presentations. Professor Rob Whelan, President, answered specific questions related to international recognition, accreditation and the transferability of the degrees between UOWD and UOW Australia.

So far, UOWD has received over 750 serious expressions of interest for the limited number of places available in the first intake. Almost 50% are from Emirati nationals seeking to enhance their career prospects by pursuing a quality, nationally accredited doctoral program available for the first time in the UAE.

Light refreshments were served to the participants following the Information Sessions.
