Wednesday, 04 October, 2017
The University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) had the privilege to meet with delegates from the Shanghai Library in China during a recent visit at its campus in Dubai Knowledge Park. The delegation, led by the Deputy Director of the Library, ZHOU Deming, met with Mr Felix Lanceley, Director of Student Services and Academic Registrar and Ms Saba Gaffar, Head of Library Services and expressed their interest in forging a collaboration with the University’s library. Their interest in UOWD developed due to its long history in the region and its linkages with Australia and the UAE which differentiates them from other tertiary institutions in the region. “We were delighted to have welcomed the delegation from Shanghai library. Their interest in our University certainly lays the foundation for a mutually beneficially partnership in the future and we are looking forward to it”, commented Mr Felix Lanceley, Director of Student Services and Academic Registrar. Shanghai Library is the second largest library in China after the National Library of China in Beijing. At 24 stories and 348 feet (106 m) tall, it is the second tallest library in the world.
