More than 30 delegates from the Human Resources industry recently attended a seminar delivered by Mr Ajay Devaraj, Founder and CEO of Third Eye Perspectives, at the University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) about “Building Sustainable Competitive Advantage through HR”.
Organised by The Human Resources Forum (THRF), Mr Devaraj provided the attendees with in-depth insight on the important role of the human resources in achieving sustainable competitive advantage in companies.
With more than three decades of experience in human resources within various industry types, Mr Devaraj said that sustainable competitive advantage occurs when a company’s assets, attributes, or abilities are difficult to duplicate or improve on thus giving that company a long term advantage above competitors. He supported his presentation with walking the audience through a couple of real life case studies that he was involved with during his career.
According to Mr Devaraj, part of the human resources strategy is the need to understand how they can create value for its shareholders and how to look specifically at the company’s generic and growth strategies. The designing and implementation of HR initiatives such as specialised recruitment and personal development form an essential part of the HR strategy.
