International Expert Addresses Questions of Quality in Virtual Universities

The University of Wollongong in Dubai hosted a public lecture on Wednesday, 12th October by a leading global expert in educational technologies, Professor Barry Harper, on the topic of "Virtual Universities: Why They Work and Why They Dont". The focus of Professor Harpers seminar was on quality standards in virtual universities, including whether pedagogical quality standards were being met and how quality outcomes were being achieved. Professor Harper is Dean of Education at the University of Wollongong (Australia) and Director of the Educational Media Laboratory (emLab), an internationally acclaimed research centre which has won over 20 awards for innovation and excellence, including European Multimedia Association awards and a British Academy Award (BAFTA).
