The students of Computer Application, a general education subject for all freshmen students at the University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD), attended a special seminar with Joseph Aninias, the UOWD Manager of ITTS (Information Technology and telecommunication Services) as the guest lecturer.
As part of their internal group assignment, students are required to study an industry and the impact of technology on that industry over time. Every semester, the students are taken on a field trip to visit an organisation, to help bridge the gap between classrooms and offices. This semester the education industry was chosen with the seminar followed by a tour of the labs and server rooms with ITTS.
The students were extremely motivated as they were got an opportunity to see behind the scenes of their own university and got a chance to learn about various technological changes that have occurred at UOWD through its 18 years in the UAE.
"We did not know so much effort went into maintaining the labs, said one student. "We were impressed by the technology UOWD is using as well as the continuous development for the future.
In the past, this subjects trips have included visits to RTA, Dubai TV, Express Newspaper and OPPS Print.
