Students mark Halloween with 'Fright Night'

The University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) student Federation Club organised a ‘Fright Night’ party to mark the occasion of Halloween on 31 October, 2013. The event was held in the Multipurpose Room in Block 5, organised with the assistance of the Student Services Department, Student Representative Council and student volunteers.The event started off with the game ‘Creepiest Ogre Growl’, which was won by student, Tenaz Postwala. DJ Sunny Dxb kept the floor rocking with some great music, catering to all nationalities and lifting the mood for the evening’s festivities.The Halloween photo-booth was one of the most exciting segments of the event as students gotthe chance to pose with scary props and click funky pictures with their friends. Couples also took part in a Fashion Walk, with the scariest avatar winners named as Tavleen Kaur and Ashwin Sagar.Anagha Ann showcased some great moves and vocal talent with various Japanese numbers, which got the crowd cheering. Members of the Club Euphoria and Playback put up a splendid performance with the band rocking to the tunes of ‘Highway to Hell’, which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone in the audience.The event brought people together from different backgrounds and gave freshers a very good platform to mingle and make new friends. The dinner saw everyone enjoy some mouth-watering pizzas sponsored by Itzza Pizza, and snacks were provided by 3’s company.The grand finale saw the award of the evening’s ‘Ms Fright’ to Fizza Basrawi and ‘Mr Fright’ to Mohammed, chosen by the manager of Itzza Pizza, Mr Tarek, who then presented the winners with a cash prize of Dhs 100.The President of the Federation Club, Unnati Shahani said, “We worked really hard to make this event happen, I’m glad it went well. We really appreciated the support and cooperation from the SRC and SSD. I’d like to thank all the students who helped out, decorating the hall in the creepiest way possible and those who attended the event and made the effort to dress up.”
