TESOL Arabia workshop

Saturday, 14 May, 2005

In its ongoing efforts to provide professional development opportunities for educators in the region, the Centre for English Studies, the University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) conducted a workshop for the Dubai Chapter of TESOL Arabia at its Knowledge Village premises on Thursday.

The Workshop entitled "Real language, for real people, in real classrooms: aiming for realistic outcomes in EFL" explored ways to engage teachers and students in a learning process that produces learning outcomes that are imaginative, unexpected and meaningful. The Workshop identified some of the implications of this approach to language and learning in EFL/ESL.

Approximately 35 participants - all EFL/ESL teachers in Dubai - attended the Workshop and received Certificates of Proficiency in acknowledgement of their participation.
