UOWD appoints Manager, Office of Institutional Effectiveness

Dr. Daniel Kratochvil will be assuming the position of Manager, Office of Institutional Effectiveness at the University of Wollongong in Dubai. Dr. Kratochvil has been working in the Gulf Region for six years as a higher education administrator and university instructor. He arrives at UOWD from the Canadian University of Dubai, where he held the post of Director of Planning and Development. Previous to this, he was the Associate Campus Dean at the Abu Dhabi campus of the New York Institute of Technology. At both institutions, he balanced his administrative work with classroom experience by teaching a variety of courses in the fields of history, political science, and sociology. Dr. Kratochvil was born in the United States but raised in the Canadian province of Alberta. He received an Undergraduate degree from the University of Texas, Austin before entering Columbia University in New York City. At Columbia, he earned two Masters Degrees and a Ph.D. in sociology. A resident of Brooklyn, New York, Dr. Kratochvil moved to Abu Dhabi in 2003 to conduct research for a government department.
