UOWD students get a taster of a real workplace
Sunday, 19 October, 2008
Sixty General Education students from the University of Wollongong in Dubai visited the Dnata Travel Services head office on Sheikh Zayed road as part of their Computer Application course work. Every semester we try to get some industry experience to the classroom to give the students an idea of the real workplace, said Zeenath Khan, UOWD General Education lecturer. This enables the students to see and experience some of what they study put into action. Annie John, the training officer for Dnata Travel Services began the session with a presentation on Dnata Travel Services and what makes it a one stop shop for travel. This was followed by a presentation by guest speakers Jitesh Surjiani and Sohail Imtiaz from the e-BSG team on Impact of Technology on the travel industry. S. M. Mushfiq, one of the participating students said, the presentations were informative and interesting as they showed us how Dnata Travel Services has effectively deployed the right technology mix to improve service standards and maintain its competitive edge. After the presentations, the students were given a tour of the many international airline counters represented within the Dnata Travel Centre building and a quick round of Dnatas operations.
