Financial Aid

UOWD offers financial aid to undergraduate students in the autumn and spring semesters of every academic year. This financial aid is intended to assist students who have limited financial resources to fund their higher education.

Financial aid is available for new (entry level) students and it covers part of the tuition fees only for each semester for one academic year.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

  • Provide evidence of financial need supported by documents as outlined in the application form
  • First time applicants must be enrolling in their first semester of study at UOWD and enrolled in the relevant number of subjects as mentioned below
  • Applicants must meet all the academic and admission criteria for direct entry to the University and be intending to enrol in the relevant session for which they have applied.
  • Applicants will not be allowed to defer their scholarship more than one semester after which they are awarded the scholarship
  • Students must enrol in at least one summer semester or else their financial aid will be cancelled
  • Renewal applications must meet the financial aid requirements

Requirements to Retain Financial Aid

Financial aid awarded to students will be reviewed at the end of each semester unless otherwise stated.

Requirements to Maintain Financial Aid
Study Load Enrol in a minimum of 3 subjects (autumn and spring semesters) and 2 subjects in summer semester.
Academic Achieve academic results of a minimum of grade P (Pass) in all subjects attempted on a full-time load (minimum 3 subjects) in any semester with the exception of summer.
Conduct Maintain good academic and conduct standing that is, have not been subject to any disciplinary action.

Scholarship holders failing to meet the above requirements will no longer be entitled to retain their financial aid and will therefore; have to pay the relevant tuition fees in order to continue their studies.

Review of Financial Aid

  • Students must meet the minimum academic performance level mentioned in the table above
  • Failure to meet these requirements will result in the students losing their financial aid and hence they will have to pay the relevant tuition fees to continue their studies.
  • Students must re-submit the required supporting documents before the commencement of their subsequent year of study
  • Renewal of financial aid may not be at the previous rate determined by the Scholarship Committee.

Application Procedures

Applicants who are eligible for Financial Aid must submit an Financial Aid Application form along with supporting documentation as outlined in the application form to the Registrar’s Department. You must submit one original and one photocopied version of supporting documentation. Registrar staff will not photocopy documents on behalf of an applicant. Applications must be received by the closing date (as listed below) and submitted to:

The closing date deadlines for receipt of financial aid applications and supporting documentation are as follows:

Autumn
2010
Spring
2011
Undergraduate 01 August 01 November

Late applications will not be considered.
