Master of Quality Management (MQM)
Quality management in goods and services sectors has gained increasing importance over the last few decades and as an industry has spawned new career opportunities for business and technical professionals. There is a need for qualified managers in this field in order enable companies to effectively encapsulate the concept of quality into the daily operations of their organizations.
The UOWD MQM is an 8-subject, flexible degree program that provides new graduates as well as experienced managers with the specialized skills and knowledge of quality management as well as other management functions.
The UOWD MQM was introduced in Dubai in 1996 in association with the Dubai Quality Group (DQG), which is sponsored by the Dubai Department for Economic Development. UOWD is the only university in the region that offers this degree program. The faculty who are involved with the degree program have significant academic and industry experience that enables the students to learn the theory as well applications of the various concepts that form the basis of Total Quality Management
The MQM aims to enable students to:
- Demonstrate the acquisition of a philosophical, analytical and statistical framework that facilitates organisation successfully making a transition to Total Quality Management (TQM)
- Synthesise the historical framework under which quality and quality assessment has evolved internationally
- Acquire and implement an integrated approach to the management of quality systems which includes leadership, strategic planning and human resources management
- Evaluate and apply various statistical process control techniques used in manufacturing and services and effectively apply the tools and techniques of quality improvement
- Synthesise an understanding of how marketing, technology, people and information can be utilised to satisfy customer requirements in the services sector
- Recognise the importance of quality assurance in TQM and evaluate the approaches to quality assurance.
- Demonstrate an appreciation for learning as a life long process
| Duration of Course | The course is normally 4 semesters in length. Based on 3 semesters per year, and 2 subjects per semester, this degree can be completed in 1.5 years. Candidates may overload or underload per semester, although the MQM compulsory subjects are only offered once per year. Students on a University sponsored visa must take at least 2 subjects per semester. There are 10 teaching weeks per semester | ||

| Recognition | This program is accredited by the UAE Ministry of Education in addition to being accredited by the Australian Government. It is fully recognised within the UAE, in GCC nations and internationally for further education and employment in the private and public sectors. | ||
| Intakes | There are three intakes each year (Autumn, Spring and Summer).

| Attendance | Attendance is compulsory. Each subject requires one evening of attendance per week. Classes are held 6.00pm – 9.00pm, Sunday to Thursday. | ||
