UOWD Undergraduate Student Guide 2016-17

UOWD’s Knowledge Village campus provides dedicated recreational and social meeting spaces for students to get together, play games and socialise in a safe and comfortable environment. The Student Lounge, Ladies Lounge and the Activities Rooms in Block 5 are managed by the Student Service Department, for the exclusive use of enrolled UOWD students. Security video cameras operate in these rooms.

Student Lounge

The Student Lounge and Ladies Lounge are equipped with sofas and chairs, cable TV, vending machines, eating areas, magazine publications, and notice boards. Board games such as chess, checkers, backgammon etc. are available for student use in these areas.

Student lounge timings: Saturday – Thursday, 7:30am – 10:00pm

Activities Room

The activities room is equipped with a table tennis table, foozball table, pool table, air hockey, carrom and a Play Station area. This room is also occasionally used for other student activities such as Dance Club rehearsals, Debate Team practices and more.

E-Games Room

The e-games room is a dedicated space for PC gaming and tournaments and has its own network with 10 computers and a server in a tournament-style 5v5 setup. The facility can be used for playing a range of network games, either casually at any time of day, or competitively during the tournaments organised by the E-Sports Club. 

E-Games Room timings: Saturday – Thursday, 8:30am – 10:00pm

Around Knowledge Village

UOWD’s campus is at the heart of Dubai’s training hub, Knowledge Village. The Knowledge Village development offers easy public transport links from the Dubai Internet City metro station, as well as a range of food and shopping outlets and onsite service providers.

Block seven of Knowledge Village hosts a Food Court, providing a wide range of affordable dining options for students on campus. An ATM is also available in this block.

Block six, adjacent to the Food Court, houses a convenience store, pharmacy, printing services centre, travel agency, car rental office, stationery shop and beauty salon. There are also outlets of the Cafe Ole shop within UOWD buildings. 

Knowledge Village is in close proximity to Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City and Tecom, which also offer a range of dining, shopping and service options.

Paid car parking facilities are available and taxis are easily accessible in and around Knowledge Village. The nearest metro station – Dubai Internet City – is approximately 10 minutes walk from the campus and the Roads and Transport Authority run a clean, safe and inexpensive bus service that links Knowledge Village to the rest of the city.
