New Textbooks

New textbooks are normally in stock at UniShop prior to the start of each semester and remain in stock throughout the term.

Used Textbooks

Purchasing Used Textbooks

Buying used textbooks is a great way to reduce your study costs.  All used textbooks sold through UniShop are clearly stamped “used book” on the front inside cover.

Used textbooks available in the UniShop will always be the current edition and title in use for that subject and are priced at about 30% less than the price the new textbook.

Please note that used textbooks are subject to availability; not all titles may be in stock.  Contact the UniShop to find if the textbook you require is available as a used textbook.

Selling your Used Textbooks:

Another great way to reduce your study costs is to sell your textbooks back to UniShop after completing the subject.  UniShop offers a direct buy-back program, so you get cash in hand immediately when you sell your used textbooks back to UniShop.  All payments are made in cash, in UAE Dirhams.

The buy-back period is two weeks before the semester starts and the first three weeks of the semester.  Used textbooks will not normally be purchased after that time.

The buy-back prices are fixed at 45% of the purchase price.  If you are selling a textbook you purchased new from UniShop, the buy-back price is 45% of the current selling price of the new version of that textbook.  If you are selling a textbook you purchased from UniShop as a used textbook, the buy-back price is 45% of the current selling price for used textbooks.

UniShop will not buy back textbooks if the textbook for that subject is going to be changed next semester.

UniShop Buy_back

UniShop will buy-back textbooks under the following conditions:

  1. The subject must be on offer the following semester.
  2. The textbook must be in use the following semester (same title & edition)
  3. The textbook must be in good condition.  Torn, dirty and/or heavily marked textbooks will not be accepted for purchase.
  4. UniShop reserves the right to defer purchases if the inventory of a title is overstocked.

Please download the complete policy PP-SS-DB-4 1 UOWD Used Book Buyback Program for full details on the procedures.

Buying and Selling Textbooks privately

You are not obligated to purchase or sell your textbooks to UniShop.  You may choose to purchase from or sell your textbooks to other students directly.  UOWD and UniShop are not responsible for these transactions.
