UOWD Profile

UOWD has hosted the Software Development Trade Show since 2007. The event provides an opportunity for current undergraduate final year students majoring in Computer Science, Software Development or related fields to collegially compete, communicate and showcase their academic interests by presenting software projects undertaken at their respective institutions.

Students are encouraged to participate in active learning through project demonstrations, teamwork and sharing of their knowledge in the software development field.

2014 Competition 

The 2014 competition took place on 5 June and saw over 30 teams from 14 universities across the UAE take part, bringing a range of innovative software applications and devices to showcase in front of a panel of high-level industry experts.
 
The 2014 winners were:
 
1st Place: American University of Sharjah
 
Project title: LUNG++ Android Based System for the Diagnosis and Monitoring of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
 
2nd Place: University of Wollongong in Dubai
 
Project title: The Walking Stick
 
3rd Place: University of Sharjah
 
Project title: The Smart Suit
 
4th Place: Khalifa University
 
Project title: myVOW
 
People's Choice Award: University of Wollongong in Dubai
 
Project title: Yoga Journey

2013 Competition

In 2013, competition saw 26 teams from 12 universities across the UAE take part, bringing a range of innovative software applications and devices to showcase in front of a panel of high-level industry experts.
