UOWD Undergraduate Student Guide 2017-18

The University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) was established in 1993 by one of the world's top ranking universities - the University of Wollongong, Australia.

UOW Australia is a dynamic multi-campus institution that offers a fully-rounded educational experience, combining academic excellence, outstanding teaching quality and a vibrant student community, providing graduates with the best possible employment and professional development opportunities.

UOW traces its origins to 1951 when a Division of the then New South Wales University of Technology was established in Wollongong. Ten years later the Division became the Wollongong College of the University of New South Wales and, in 1975, the University of Wollongong was incorporated.

In over 50 years, the University has grown from a provincial feeder college with 300 students to an international university with over 30,000 students spread across three campuses and five access centres.

Today, UOW is actively committed to providing an education that reflects the changing needs of not only students, but also employers all over the world. Renowned internationally for teaching and research excellence, UOW retains a position as one of the top two per cent of universities in the world, confirmed by its performance in the prestigious QS World University Rankings 2014.

A Five-star University

The University of Wollongong has achieved an outstanding 30 stars out of a possible 30 in the six key educational experience categories assessed by the Good Universities Guide 2013.

The ranking considers universities across key performance indicators, where only the top twenty per cent of universities nationwide can be awarded 5 stars in any one category. This demonstrates UOW graduates are well-rounded, enjoy high employment rates, great access to further study, and are taught by leaders in their field.
