Professional Body Recognition
Alongside UOWD’s institutional accreditation from the UAE Ministry of Education - Higher Education Affairs, several of the University’s degree programs have been formally recognised by international professional organisations. For a number of programs, this recognition provides advanced entry to, or partial exemptions from, the organisations’ professional accreditation schemes.
Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) Accountancy: Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA); CIMA; CPA Australia
The Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) in Accountancy has been accredited by the UK’s Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) for exemption from 9 out of 14 ACCA papers, the maximum exemption that can be achieved at undergraduate level. On graduation from the BCom Accountancy program you can gain professional certification from the ACCA to become a chartered accountant.
The Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) in Accountancy has been accredited by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. The globally recognised CIMA qualification allows graduates to become part of a global network, improving their employability and earning potential across the world.
The Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) in Accountancy has been accredited by CPA Australia (Certified Practising Accountants). The accreditation offers graduates of the UOWD program direct entry into the Professional level of the CPA Program enabling graduates to pursue a further professional designation that is internationally recognised.
Bachelors programs in Computer Science and IT: Australian Computer Society
Each of the undergraduate programs offered by UOWD’s Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences is recognised by relevant professional bodies. The Bachelor of Information Technology in Management Information Systems and the Bachelor of Computer Science program, including the two majors in Digital Systems Security and Multimedia and Game Development, are accredited by the Australian Computer Society (ACS).
Bachelor of Engineering (BEng): Institute of Engineers Australia / Washington Accord
UOWD’s Bachelor of Engineering degree, offering majors in Electrical, Telecommunication, Computer, Mechanical and Civil Engineering, has been professionally accredited by the Institute of Engineers Australia (IEAust), also known as Engineers Australia. Through the Washington Accord, courses accredited by Engineers Australia are recognised by equivalent professional Engineering authorities in the USA, UK, Japan, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa and other countries.
Master of Quality Management: DQG & EFQM Affiliation
Quality Management program was introduced in Dubai in 1996 in association with the Dubai Quality Group (DQG) which is sponsored by the Dubai Department for Economic Development. UOWD have also recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) to boost commitment to sustainable excellence through joint activities.
Master of Science (Logistics): Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS); Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT)
The Master of Science in Logistics has been accredited by the UK’s Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS). UOWD students will receive free CIPS student membership and upon successful completion of their degree along with evidence of 3 years relevant work experience they may apply for MCIPS membership of the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply.
The Master of Science in Logistics has been accredited by the UK’s Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT). Students will have the option to join as a Student Member of CILT, providing them with a plethora of benefits contributing to their personal and professional development in order to advance into more senior leadership roles. The accreditation will also serve as a pathway to CILT Chartered Membership status.
Master of Business in Marketing: Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM)
The Master of Business in Marketing has been accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). The accreditation offers graduates direct entry into the CIM Diploma in Professional Marketing and will be exempted from one out of the three modules to be completed in order to obtain a full CIM qualification. Current students will have the option to join as an Affiliate Studying Member.
Master of Engineering Management (MEM): Project Management Institute
Engineering Project Management is a core subject in the Master of Engineering Management program at UOWD. Taking this module satisfies one of the key application criteria for the Project Management Professional (PMP) qualification and students who pass the program can use this subject as evidence of their 35 hours of project management education.
Bachelor of Commerce in Human Resource Management and the Master of Business in Human Resource Management: Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI)
The Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) in Human Resource Management as well as the Master of Business (MBus) in Human Resource Management has been accredited by the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI). Students will enjoy a variety of benefits contributing to their personal and professional development in order to advance into more senior leadership roles. The accreditation will also serve as a pathway to AHRI Membership status
