With grant funding support from the National Research Foundation, the University of Wollongong in Dubai is proud to have teamed up with Dubai Business Woman Council (DBWC) to understand more about the role of women in the UAE workplace and the factors associated with women attaining, and succeeding in, leadership positions. It is hoped that the research will contribute to public policy initiatives aimed to heighten career leadership development opportunities among women in the UAE. Learn more about the project here.This inagural Women and Leadership Seminar is part of a monthly program of events which is designed to encourage women from across the UAE to contribute in the dialogues and debates surrounding gender issues in the workplace. The seminar will provide an opportunity for working women to both learn from Hazel Nyandoro's story and share their own stories, and to join the conversation about legislative implications.Drawing on her own experiences, Hazel will be talking about the key enablers, challenges and learnings that helped her to make the leap from corporate leadership to entrepreneurship. Presenter Details:Hazel Nyandoro is currently the Founder and Managing Director of Manelith Consulting, a company offering strategic image development services to organisations and individuals. Based in the UAE, Manelith covers frontier markets in the Middle East, Africa and Europe. Between 2006 -2015, Hazel held several roles in the Corporate and Investment banking division of J.P. Morgan Chase. Working in both London and Dubai, her key roles included CFO for Global Pension Funds, Investor Services Sub-Sahara, and Vice President in Treasury Services and Trade Finance Middle East, Africa and Turkey. Prior to joining J.P. Morgan, Hazel spent several years of her career working for the John Lewis Partnership as developing and implementing its organisational restructuring strategy. Aside from her blue chip management development and training programmes, Hazel achieved a BSc. (Hons) Economics and Social Policy from the University of London as well and a Postgraduate qualification in Personnel Development from the University of Westminster. She enjoys networking and foreign travel.
