Program Overview

Following a proper project management process can help your organisation avoid the common pitfalls that arise from failing to manage projects properly such as facing out-of-control costs brought on by projects that are past the deadline, over budget, and that require more resources than originally projected. Although no project management framework is fail-save, it will however minimise the problems and prepare you to deal with arising problems more confidently.

A structured approach to project management has been well-proven over time however, to execute projects in the most effective and efficient way possible, requires a certain level of skill and knowledge. This course is designed to give participants a solid foundation in the concepts, tools and techniques of formal project management. It is extremely comprehensive, covering groups’ core competencies associated with effective and efficient project management practice. The 1-day workshop is ideal for those with no previous project management training, as well as those who are taking on an increasing number of project-oriented assignments.

Meet the Instructor

Dr Kamal

Dr Kamal Jaafar has more than 10 years’ experience as corporate consultant and trainer in Project Management for big corporations such as, K.O.C., S.A.O.C. (OOC), Kazakhstan Oil and Gas- Buzachi Operating Ltd , ADX, ADNOC and Emerging Technologies.

Dr Jaafar is an active researcher and has published more than 20 publications including journal articles, conference papers and book chapters. His research interests focus on seismic design and safety implementations for concrete structures and has presented his research at various international conferences in UK, USA, Greece and Italy. He has been honoured by the Lebanese government for his academic achievements and in 2005 his research won first prize at the Royal College of Physicists in London organised by KRSF.

Dr Jaafar is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences, University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD). He is the Program Leader for the Master of Information Technology Management, Master of Engineering Management and the Master of Engineering Asset Management. He obtained his PhD degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Cambridge, UK.
