Staff celebrations for a successful year at UOWD

Thursday, 08 November, 2012

UOWD’s commitment to celebrating success extended to all staff this week as University President, Professor Ghassan Aouad, hosted an event to acknowledge the institution’s achievements during the past year and recognise the efforts of every member of staff throughout 2012.

Professor Aouad greeted colleagues from across the university’s faculties and departments at the event, extending a special welcome to colleagues visiting from the University of Wollongong in Australia, including Professor Joe Chicharo, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (International); Professor John Glynn, Executive Dean (Business); and Professor Don Iverson, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Health).

2012 has been an exciting year for UOWD, witnessing record enrolment figures and an ongoing expansion in the range of accredited courses on offer to new students. Acknowledging some of the major milestones achieved in the past year, Professor Aouad thanked all staff for their hard work throughout 2012.

The event was held in the grounds of UOWD’s campus at Dubai Knowledge Village, where staff were treated to a barbecue lunch, courtesy of the Property and Services team. Everyone enjoyed the opportunity to meet up with friends and colleagues from other areas of the university and it was an extra special day for five lucky raffle winners who were awarded experience voucher prizes.
