Simulation and Smart Systems Research Center
The Simulation and Smart Systems (S3) Research Centre was officially established in March 2014 by Associate Professors Dr Catherine Todd, Dr Mohamed Watfa and Dr Kamal Jaafar from the University’s Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences.
Research within the Centre focuses on design and development of innovative, state-of-the-art hardware and software solutions in simulation and smart systems, in a diverse range of fields, including health, education, urban planning, sustainability, engineering, and computing.
The facility is the first of its kind in the UAE and promises to be a pioneer in collaborative simulation- and smart systems- based research, relevant to national and international scholars and practitioners in its various fields of research, operating under local, national and international research funding.
The Centre houses state-of the-art technology, including holography, smart sensor devices, simulation and haptic rendering software and hardware, and 3D modelling systems, all of which facilitate projects to support the advancement of research in the three discipline areas:
