Class of 2025 Graduation: Marking a Shared Journey
Wednesday, 24 December, 2025
Graduation is one of the most meaningful moments of the year for the University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD). On 11 and 12 November 2025, we came together at the Madinat Jumeirah Conference & Events Centre to celebrate the Class of 2025, joined by graduates, their families, faculty, and university leadership.
Across four ceremonies over two days, the celebrations honoured not only academic achievement, but the personal growth, resilience, and commitment that shaped each graduate’s journey at UOWD. For many students, graduation marked the culmination of years spent balancing studies, work, family responsibilities, and life beyond the classroom while forming friendships and experiences that will remain long after their time at university.
The undergraduate ceremony for the Schools of Computer Science, Engineering, and Humanities was honoured by the presence of His Highness Sheikh Hasher Bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, who presented awards to the Top Graduates. The ceremonies were also attended by distinguished guests, including Her Excellency Bryony Hilless, Australian Consul General to Dubai and the Northern Emirates; John M Green, Chair of UOW Global Enterprises; Brandy Scott, journalist and Dubai Eye 103.8 presenter; and Ridwaan Jadwat, Australian Ambassador to the UAE.
In his address to the graduating class, Professor Mohamed Salem, President of UOWD, reflected on the university’s growth and the shared journey of its community:
“Over the past three decades, UOWD has grown from just eight students to a community of more than 6,000. Each milestone has been built together, student by student, professor by professor. As you graduate today, you join a global alumni network contributing to industries, research, and communities around the world.”
Speaking on behalf of the graduating cohort, top graduate Jobin Kachora, a Civil Engineering student, reflected on the shared experience of the Class of 2025:
“At UOWD, we found courage in challenges, purpose in possibility, and friendship in every shared experiencem, from classrooms to club events and long, late-night study sessions. As we graduate, we hold onto the spirit of our shared journey and look ahead with excitement, knowing the countless stories we are about to create will shape the world.”
The ceremonies brought together graduates from the Schools of Business, Computer Science, Engineering, and Humanities, reflecting the diversity of UOWD’s academic community and its continued contribution to higher education in the UAE.
As the Class of 2025 takes its next steps beyond UOWD, graduation marked both a celebration and a transition—closing one chapter while opening many new paths ahead.
