"My degree at UOWD deepened my understanding of critical thinking, research, and effective communication – skills that have been invaluable in my role as a journalist." - Nour Al Hosni
Nour Al Hosni, a Syrian-Hungarian writer, reporter, and presenter, has built an impressive career in the media industry since graduating from the University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) in 2018 with a Master’s in Media & Communication.
Nour’s journey began with roles as a news anchor and radio presenter in Dubai, where she honed her skills in creating engaging content and connecting with diverse audiences. Her dedication and talent led her to AlArabiya, one of the most prominent TV channels in the Arab world, where she continues to thrive as a presenter and reporter. “Over the years, I have gained experience in crafting compelling narratives and demonstrating adaptability through various programs and segments,” she explains.
Breaking into a competitive industry while balancing motherhood has shaped Nour’s approach to her work. “The media industry is demanding, and being a mother of two added another layer of complexity,” she reflects. “Through determination, effective time management, and the unwavering support of my family, I’ve been able to thrive and grow in my career.”
Nour credits her time at UOWD with providing the foundation for her professional success. “My degree at UOWD deepened my understanding of critical thinking, research, and effective communication – skills that have been invaluable in my role as a journalist,” she says.
Her memories of UOWD are filled with camaraderie and energy. “The rush before deadlines, brainstorming with classmates, and exchanging ideas that challenged my perspectives were some of the most memorable moments,” she recalls.
Looking ahead, Nour sees her career expanding into roles that amplify her influence both on-screen and behind the scenes. “My ultimate goal is to continue growing as a professional while creating work that resonates and connects with people on a deeper level,” she says.
Driven by her passion for meaningful storytelling and her commitment to her family, Nour continues to push boundaries in the media industry. “I’m motivated by the challenge of balancing a dynamic career with family life and showing my children what it means to pursue your passions with purpose,” she shares.
For current students and recent graduates, Nour offers this advice: “Be adaptable, embrace change, and continuously learn new skills. Build strong networks in your field, but don’t forget to seek balance. Maintaining harmony between your professional and personal life is key to long-term success.”
As we celebrate Nour’s journey, we are inspired by her resilience, ambition, and dedication to making an impact. Her success story exemplifies the values of perseverance and balance, and we are proud to have her as a distinguished member of the UOWD alumni community.
