Integrity Debate Championship (InDeC’23)
Academic Integrity is the foundation of education, but the growing absence of its values has given rise to misconducts such as exam cheating and plagiarism in the classroom. A global menace, academic misconduct has been linked directly to lack of workplace professionalism and ethics.
The ENAI WG Centre for Academic Integrity in the UAE in partnership with University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) and Middlesex University Dubai, is organizing the third annual Integrity Debate Championship 2023, first such debate of its kind in the region this Autumn to engage students and increase awareness of integrity values and their importance among student community.

Round 1: Saturday, 18 November 2023 - 11am to 1pm (UAE time) | Online
Round 2 / 3: Saturday, 25 November 2023 - 11am to 1pm (UAE time) | Online
Round 3 / 4 (Semi-Final): Saturday, 16 December 2023 - 11am to 1pm (UAE time) | UOWD Campus
Final Round: Tuesday, 19 December 2023 *
* FINAL ROUND will take place during first Asia-Middle East – Africa Conference on Academic and Research Integrity (ACARI) 2023 at 4:40pm Dubai time, Middlesex University campus.

Debate Day Plan & Formats
The Integrity Debate Championship will take place in November/December. There will be three (3) – four (4) rounds, depending on number of participants. Below are the details of the rounds:
Date: Saturday, 18 November 2023
Time: 11am-1pm (UAE time) | Online
Debate topic: Should Schools Implement a Zero-Tolerance Policy for Academic Integrity Violations?
No. of teams participating: depending on the number of entries
(SCHOOLS WILL COMPETE AGAINST SCHOOLS)
Format of debate
Criteria for judges to mark the debaters: based on the rubric attached
Date: Saturday, 25 November 2023
Time: 11am-1pm (UAE time) | Online
Debate title: Should Academic Integrity Education Be a Mandatory Part of the Curriculum?
No. of teams participating: EIGHT (8)
Format of debate
Criteria for judges to mark the debater: based on the rubric attached. There may be an extra elimination round added at this stage depending on the total number of participants.
Date: Saturday, 16 December 2023
Time: 11am-1pm (UAE time) | University of Wollongong in Dubai campus
Debate title: TBA
No. of teams participating: depends on the teams qualified after Round Two/Three (depending on the number of participating schools)
Format of debate
Criteria for judges to mark the debaters: based on the rubric attached
* Final round take place on 19th December 2023 and will depend on even or odd number of school registrations – this will dictate whether the final round will be school vs. school, or individual vs. individual.
FINAL ROUND will take place during first Asia-Middle East – Africa Conference on Academic and Research Integrity (ACARI) 2023 at 4:40pm Dubai time, Middlesex University campus.

- Runner up school
- Best Speaker
All students participating will receive a Certificate of Recognition.
