Integrity Debate Championship (InDeC’22)
The Centre for Academic Integrity in the UAE hosted at the University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD), along with its Consortium Associate Member Gulf Medical University, Ajman and ASPAM Indian Internal School, Sharjah, is organizing the Integrity Debate Championship 2022, first such debate of its kind in the region this Autumn to engage students and increase awareness of integrity values and their importance among student community.
Schools have the unique opportunity to nominate one or two teams of three maximum students from Grades 9-11 to represent the school for the debate, engage with peers in a healthy environment and network with international experts.

Round 1: Saturday, 15 October 2022 - 11am to 1pm (UAE time ) | Round 2: Saturday, 22 October 2022 - 11am to 1pm(UAE time)
Round 3: Saturday, 29 October 2022 - 11am to 1pm(UAE time)
Last date to register: Tuesday, 11 October 2022 Extended deadline Thursday, 13 October 2022

Debate Day Plan & Formats
The Integrity Debate Championship will take place in October. There will be three (3) rounds. Below are the details of the rounds:
Date: Saturday, 15 October 2022
Time: 11am-1pm (UAE time)
Debate title - TBA
No. of teams participating: depending on the number of entries
(SCHOOLS WILL COMPETE AGAINST SCHOOLS)
Format of debate
- Introduction by the Chairperson / moderator
- Opening statement by the debaters (2mins each = total 8 mins)
- Rebuttal/ cross examination (1 min per participant to answer = total 8-10 mins)
A (1,2). B(3,4)…
Round 1: A1 opposes B3, A2 opposes B4
Round 2: A1 opposes B4, A2 opposes B3
- Closing statement by the debaters (1 min) (total 4-6mins)
Criteria for judges to mark the debaters: based on the rubric attached

Time: 11am-1pm (UAE time)

(INDIVIDUALS WILL COMPETE AGAINST INDIVIDUALS)
Format of debate
- Introduction by the Chairperson / moderator
- Opening statement by the debaters (2mins each = total 8 mins)
- Rebuttal/ cross examination (1 min per participant to answer = total 8-10 mins)
A (1,2). B(3,4)…
Round 1: A1 opposes B3, A2 opposes B4
Round 2: A1 opposes B4, A2 opposes B3
- Judges ask questions to individual debater (1 min to prepare, 2 mins to speak)
- Rebuttal/ cross examination (1 mins per participant to answer = total 8-10 mins)
Criteria for judges to mark the debaters: based on the rubric attached
* Final round will depend on even or odd number of school registrations – this will dictate whether the final round will be school vs. school, or individual vs. individual
Award Ceremony will be conducted on 29 October 2022 (venue to be decided based on COVID19 restrictions)
The categories of awards are:
- Winning School
- Runner up school
- Best Speaker
All students participating will receive a Certificate of Recognition.
