International Student Program

The International Student Program (ISP) is designed to provide support and assistance to new students who have come from another country to study at UOWD. Whether you arrive in Dubai already knowing friends or family members, or whether you are taking on the challenge of moving to Dubai on your own, it is not easy to move to a new and unfamiliar country.

To help make your transition to Dubai as enjoyable and smooth as possible, the International Student Program organises a series of activities for new international students, both on and off-campus, which are referred to as Welcome Week. These activities provide an ideal opportunity to meet other international students, make friends, and get settled into Dubai and University life. It also provides an ideal way to meet new domestic and returning students.

The welcome week activities are open to both Undergraduate and Postgraduate students and all students are encouraged to attend.

The other component of the International Student Program is the InterCon Peer Support Program, which connects new students with more experienced students.

To register for the international student program, send an email to [email protected]. Once you have registered, you will be personally notified of the activities that will be taking place.

Airport Welcome Service

UOWD can arrange a personalised Welcome Service (provided by the Marhaba Service at Dubai Airport) for international students entering Dubai for the first time. The Welcome Service also includes airport pick-up and transfer direct to the Student Residences. Please note that we require a minimum of 72 hours notice to arrange these services.

InterCon Peer Support Program

The InterCon Peer Support Program is designed to connect new international students with more experienced students. The InterCon mentors are there to provide you with support and a friendly face to talk to in your first weeks and months in Dubai, and they will provide you with helpful advice and practical solutions. The mentors also play an active role in organising the welcome week activities for new students.

You will meet the InterCon mentors during the welcome week activities, however, to be connected with one of the mentors before, or upon, your arrival in Dubai, please send an email to [email protected], and you will be paired up with a mentor.

The InterCon Peer Support Program is available for all new undergraduate and postgraduate students.
