Currently serving as the Vice President of Governance, Compliance, and Enterprise Agility at DEWA, Ali's career is a roadmap of success in competitive fields like financial and quality management.
Ali Mohammed Almuwaijei's journey from the University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) to a prominent position in Dubai's corporate world is a story of ambition, resilience, and continual growth. Ali’s academic path at the University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) laid a solid foundation for his career. He pursued a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and Finance at UOS before moving to UOWD, where he completed a Master's in Applied Finance and Banking and a Master's in Forensic Accounting from UOW Australia. He is currently in the final stage of his Doctorate in Business Administration at UOWD.
Reflecting on his journey, Ali says, "My career after UOWD has been a series of stepping stones, each presenting unique challenges and learning opportunities. Starting in the Financial Audit Department and moving through roles in DEWA and Ajman Municipality, I've always aimed to bring innovation and excellence to my work."
Ali's progression through various leadership roles is marked by notable achievements. "Chairing the Agile Governance Global Summit 2021 and contributing to the Al Noor Rehabilitation & Welfare Association have been highlights of my career, showing the impact one can have beyond corporate walls," he shares.
On choosing his career path, Ali recalls, "I was drawn to the dynamic and challenging world of financial management. The thrill of navigating complex scenarios and making impactful decisions was what I sought, and UOWD's rigorous curriculum prepared me well for this journey."
Facing challenges in the initial stages of his career, Ali emphasizes the importance of perseverance. "There were moments of doubt, especially when dealing with the intricacies of financial audits. But I learned to trust my education and experiences, using them as stepping stones towards greater achievements," he reflects.
Ali fondly remembers his time at UOWD. "The collaborative environment and hands-on experiences were invaluable. They not only equipped me with the necessary skills but also taught me the importance of adaptability and critical thinking," he recalls.
Outside his professional life, Ali enjoys literature, outdoor activities, and community service, which he believes are crucial for personal growth and fulfillment. For UOWD students stepping into the workforce, Ali advises, "Embrace each opportunity, seek mentorship, and maintain a balance in life. Remember, resilience and continuous learning are key to navigating your career path.
Looking to the future, Ali aims to expand his influence, aspiring to take on global leadership roles. "UOWD instilled in me a thirst for continuous learning and growth, shaping my ambition to lead on a larger scale," he states.
His story is not just about professional milestones but also about the personal growth and resilience that have defined his path. As he continues to aim for excellence and innovation, Ali serves as an inspiration to current and future UOWD students, embodying the values and ambitions of our alumni community.
