“The skills I gained through my UOWD program were crucial in securing my first management position in a governmental organisation in Abu Dhabi” - Wardah Harharah
With a 20-year tenure in global leadership across aviation, tech and luxury retail industries, Wardah Harharah is the visionary Founder and CEO of The Powerhouse Project, passionately championing women's empowerment in the corporate world.
Originating from Singapore, Wardah Harharah began her professional journey in the aviation sector, where she worked at renowned organisations such as Singapore Airlines and Emirates, acquiring rich industry experience. Her postgraduate studies in International Business at the University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) further honed her analytical and research skills and expanded her career growth.
Wardah's career has since taken a significant turn towards consulting for multinational corporations. She now offers strategic guidance and excels in crafting customer experience strategies. Her most groundbreaking work lies in The Powerhouse Method™, a program born from two decades of her experience in Fortune 500 companies. This initiative is designed to empower women with the skills and confidence needed for senior executive roles, emphasising the importance of diverse voices in leadership.
Looking back on her time at UOWD, Wardah fondly recalls her university experience. Balancing her role as a leadership trainer at Emirates Airlines with her studies as a diligent student, she found that her lectures at UOWD were more than just learning opportunities. They were moments of inspiration that fuelled her ambition and personal growth. For her, the UOWD campus marked the beginning of an extraordinary journey in her life, and now, almost two decades later, Wardah feels she has come full circle.
Wardah firmly believes in equal opportunities for all and is committed to creating a world where everyone has access to them. Her personal and professional accomplishments are a testament to this. She has broken through barriers and persevered, fuelled by her unwavering belief in gender equality, which was instilled in her by her parents. Wardah is determined to advocate for an inclusive environment where gender is not a barrier to success. Her dedication to this cause inspires her to pave the way for others to follow and excel.
Apart from her professional endeavours, Wardah finds solace in writing and is working towards publishing a book. She also enjoys travelling and connecting with family and friends across Europe and Asia.
To students embarking on their careers, Wardah offers encouragement: "While a degree lays a solid educational foundation, it's the blend of your passion, unique experiences, and deliberate choices that truly sculpt your career path. Embrace the journey of character building, enriching life experiences, and forging meaningful connections, for these elements surpass conventional job titles and truly define success."
Wardah Harharah's journey, evolving from an ambitious student to a pioneering leader, powerfully demonstrates how a strong educational base, combined with unwavering determination and dedication to empowerment, can propel one to remarkable heights in both personal and professional spheres.
