- Dr Arijit Sikdar
Dr Arijit Sikdar is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Business with more than 25 years of teaching, academic administration and research experience in leading business schools. Prior to this, he was a member of the faculty at the Indian Institute of Management in Indore (India) and Management Development Institute Gurgaon (India). At UOWD, Dr Arijit has been involved in academic administration for the last 10 years holding various positions such as Interim Dean, Associate Dean (Education), Program Director- Undergraduate Program.
Dr Arijit received his PhD in 1997 from the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad, amongst the top 50 business schools in the world. His thesis was on “Managing the technology development process in Indian chemical and pharmaceutical industries”, which explored the managerial processes alignment in new product development. Prior to this, he obtained his B Tech (with Distinction) from the IIT-Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad in 1987.
Before joining academics, Dr Arijit has worked with the manufacturing and mining industry for more than five years as a management consultant. He brings with him a rich blend of industry practice and management theory knowledge to support his teaching and research.

Dr Arijit has published more than 25 papers in refereed international journals and conference proceedings. His paper on “Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice” won the UOWD Best Research Paper award at UOWD in 2007. He has jointly co-edited a case book “Business and Management Practices in South Asia” focused on cases related to doing business in emerging markets. He has co-supervised two doctoral candidates and has been principal supervisor of two doctoral candidates.
Dr Arijit’s research interests are related to strategic management issues in organisations especially related to technology & innovation, entrepreneurship and international business strategies in emerging markets. Current, he is principal supervisor for three doctoral students at UOWD where the focus of the research is related to developing strategic framework for future of work, strategic framework to support ride hailing sector, and organizational strategy to support people with disability.
He has also acted as a reviewer for different journals and conferences and has co-supervised two doctoral students. He has also been a thesis examiner for a number of doctoral dissertations.
Dr Sikdar is a professional member of the Academy of Management (USA) and Supply Chain Logistics Group (UAE).
