- Dr Muhabie Mekonnen Mengistu
Dr Muhabie Mekonnen Mengistu is an Assistant Professor at the University of Wollongong in Dubai. He obtained his PhD from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
Dr Muhabie has a broad range of experience in teaching Financial Accounting, Auditing, Accounting Information System, International Taxation, Banking and Finance, and Business Finance. He utilizes interactive pedagogical techniques to motivate and engage students in the classroom. He also exposes students to the real-world business by assigning them to work on evolving industry and technological trends.
His research interest include financial accounting, bank accounting, sustainability reporting, corporate finance, and fintech. He has several research papers that are under-review in A* Accounting journals. He has presented his research work in numerous reputable international conferences – AAA, EAA, AFAANZ, etc. He served as an Ad-hoc reviewer for various peer reviewed international journals and conferences such as The Accounting Review, European Accounting Review, Journal of Contemporary Accounting & Economics, and China Accounting and Finance Review, American Accounting Association, etc.
Prior to joining UOWD, he worked as a post-doctoral fellow and PhD program administrative assistant at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Assistant Professor II (Senior Lecturer) at the Hong Kong Metropolitan University.
Dr Muhabie is a recipient of the prestigious Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme and African Union Masters Scholarship.
