- Dr Abdulrahman Al-Shanoon
Dr Abdulrahman Al-Shanoon is an Assistant Professor at the University of Wollongong in Dubai. He holds a PhD in Robotics Engineering and AI Systems from Ontario Tech University, Canada.
His teaching style combines strong theoretical foundations with hands-on learning, enabling students to apply robotics and artificial intelligence concepts to real-world challenges. He encourages critical thinking, innovation, and practical problem-solving skills.
He specialises in advanced robotics and applied artificial intelligence, focusing on building robust, scalable, and ethical AI/ML systems for real-world applications, including autonomous systems, healthcare, and intelligent infrastructure.
Previously, he worked as an AI/ML Scientist at General Motors of Canada, where he contributed to the development of self-driving technologies, including advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS).

Apart from his teaching, Dr Al-Shanoon collaborates on research projects with the University of Guelph in Canada, focusing on developing AI/ML solutions for chronic disease prediction, medical data analysis, and mentoring graduate researchers.
