Timber Structures in the Middle East

Join us, the next level is yet to come

WHY IS IT WORTH BUILDING WITH WOOD?

Because you can be the first in the Middle East, because timber constructions can be taller in terms of "elevation" rather than height, and above all, more sustainable. Technical speakers, both local and international, will share their know-how to enrich the conversation during the day. The trend topics related to timber structures will be discussed, with a focus on case studies and local projects.

The course, organized by the University of Wollongong with the support of Rothoblaas, is a unique opportunity to learn the advantages and potential of the timber structures, the structural types, the management of the construction site and handling of the panels, the standard and innovative connection details, examples of construction sites in the Middle East in less than a day. Moreover, you can be the first one to build multi-story timber constructions in Middle East. You will meet producers and designers who have already done timber structures in the Middle East and get the chance to join the right network.

Don't miss the opportunity to catch up on hybrid structures, ground connection, construction optimization, fire resistance and to network with like-minded professionals.

Choose to rise up.

  • What is included?
  • You can break the record for the number of floors with a timber structure, through the knowledge you will get during the course, relating to companies that have already worked in the Middle East
  • The advantages of timber construction (construction of the future - don't stay behind)
  • It is a unique chance to get the network needed for designing with timber
  • It is a great chance to discuss timber constructions with engineers and experts both from the Wollongong University and designers from Europe. You will get a wider and more international view of the topics presented.

The course aim is to learn how to correctly design timber structures to avoid issues on site, understand the construction site phases and technical details of a timber building.

The goal is to get a complete know-how and discuss the handling of the structural elements, the design of hidden connections, the installation of membranes, tapes and profiles for the airtightness, the correct hygrometric behavior, the waterproofing of the building and the detailing of the connection to the ground.

Last, but not least, the speakers will present the “hottest” topics related to timber structures and moderate a debate during the panel discussions. Some of these hot topics will be hybrid structures, connection to the ground, innovative connections, acoustic, optimization of the construction.
