UOWD hosts ACCA information session

Representatives of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) spoke with students at the University of Wollongong in Dubai about the importance of professional accreditation in the sector.Assistant Professor of the Faculty of Finance and Accounting, Dr Munir Lutfi, introduced the ACCA delegates, who went on to provide a comprehensive overview of the organisations, its structure, values, programs and benefits.Led by Ms Susie Isaacson, Head of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in UAE, the presentation explained the entry routes to the ACCA, highlighting the exemptions provided by UOWD’s BCom Accountancy program. The question and answer session addressed the association’s support in finding jobs, mentoring students and providing exposure to international networks.Following the Q&A session, Dean of the Faculty of Finance and Accounting, Professor David R. Goodwin, urged students to think carefully about their career path and recognise the importance of professional accreditation saying, “A degree is only one part of what you will need to succeed in this occupation. Accreditation is a really important step in entering and progressing through the profession and in satisfying employers that you are equipped with the skills to do the job.”UOWD’s BCom Accountancy is recognised by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and is accredited to a level that provides maximum exemptions from the ACCA professional accreditation framework.
