Applying to graduate means submitting your conferral application to have your degree officially awarded once you meet all academic requirements.

Applying for the graduation ceremony is a separate process where you register to participate in the formal event celebrating your graduation. You must be eligible (i.e., conferred) to attend the ceremony.

Yes, graduates can opt to attend the ceremony next year. Student will be required to contact Registry Services next year preferably by September to know the timelines to attend the next ceremony. Please keep in mind regardless of whether the student attends the current ceremony, his/her name will be a part of the graduation booklet and will not be included in the deferred ceremony booklet. For Top Graduate selection, graduate will be considered in the current ceremony list of graduates and not in the deferred ceremony list.

A graduation ceremony is a formal occasion with smart casual wear being the minimum standard for graduates and their guests.

You will be required to wear the approved University of Wollongong in Dubai academic dress over your clothes when taking part in a graduation ceremony.

When selecting what you're going to wear, keep in mind:

• The gown is made of heavy material, so you may wish to leave your jacket with your family or friends.
• You will be wearing an academic cap on your head so we recommend a hairstyle that allows this to sit comfortably.
• You will be walking onto stage via steps or a ramp, so we recommend that you consider this when selecting your footwear.

Yes, if you are unable to attend your eligible ceremony, you will be considered as graduating in absentia, and your name will be included in the graduation booklet.

However, if you choose to attend a later ceremony instead, please note that your name will not be included in that ceremony’s booklet.

Entry to attend the graduation ceremony and refreshments available after the ceremony.

Additional guest tickets will NOT be sold at the venue on the day of the ceremony. Additional tickets once purchased are non-refundable.

No, the ceremonies will not be live-streamed, but the recordings will be published on the UOWD YouTube channel soon after.

Yes, graduates will have assigned seats which will be communicated via email prior to the ceremony. Guests, on the other hand, will not have assigned seats and seating will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Yes, children can attend the ceremony. Children under 3 years of age are free of charge, and can sit on an adult’s lap during the ceremony.

Once the degree certificate is ready you will receive email from registry on the delivery date.

We are more than happy to accommodate special seating requirements or any mobility or disability issues, including vision or hearing needs. If you did not advise of any special requirements during the online registration for graduation, please email details to [email protected] with 'Graduation' in the subject line as well as your student ID as soon as possible so arrangements can be made to the extent possible.

It is highly recommended that you arrive at the graduation venue with plenty of time to find parking, register, dress in academic dress, and take photos.

If You Arrive Late:

After registration closes, head directly to the graduate registration desk and We’ll do our best to accommodate you, but participation in the ceremony is not guaranteed.

Arriving late will impact your graduation experience. You’ll need to wait in the registration area until the Academic Procession is seated on stage. Then, you will be ushered to your seat, and your name will be read out at the end of the ceremony.

If we cannot accommodate you due to late arrival, no refund will be offered.

If Your Guests Arrive Late:

They will need to wait in the registration area until there is a suitable break in the ceremony to be ushered to the nearest available seats.

Special Guest Ceremonies:

If there is a special guest, like a member of the UAE royal family, late admissions will not be allowed for security reasons. Latecomers will need to wait until the special guest has left, which is usually after the first 30-60 minutes of the ceremony.
