UOWD Graduation Day: Everything You Need to Know
Arrival & Parking
When you arrive at the Le Méridien Dubai Hotel & Conference Centre, enter through the main entrance and follow the signs to the Registration Desk.
For detailed instructions regarding parking, please click here.
Registration
At the Registration Desk, present the ticket barcode you received by email to receive your wristband. Guests must also show their ticket barcodes to receive their wristbands.
Guest Seating
Our volunteers will direct parents and guests to a designated room where they can relax until the start of the ceremony.
Gown Collection
We strongly encourage you to pick up your gown from the supplier's warehouse or have it delivered 1-2 days before the graduation to ensure there aren't any issues. However, if you haven’t done that, you can also pick up your gown on the day of the ceremony. Make sure you have all parts: the gown, hood, and cap.
Gown Instructions
(1) Put on the Gown: Slip into the gown like a coat, ensuring it fits comfortably over your shoulders.
(2) Attach the Hood: Secure the hood to the two shoulder buttons on your gown. The hood should drape smoothly down your back.
(3) Wear the Cap: Place the cap flat on your head. Make sure the tassel is on the right side of your cap.
Degree Collection
You will be required to provide your shipment mailing address when completing the conferral form.
Once your degree is ready, it will be sent to the address submitted.
Photography
• We have arranged for professional photographers to capture individual photos of graduates, as well as group photos with family and classmates.
• Details will be available soon, so please check back on the Graduation page for updates.
Seating
In the ceremony hall, locate your assigned seat marked with your name. Please remain seated until the ceremony closes. Keep in mind that your parents and guests will be seated separately from graduates.
Receiving Your Certificate on Stage
(1) When your row is called, stand in line on the right side of the stage and wait for your name to be called.
(2) Walk onto the stage towards the UOWD Representative. As you approach, tip your cap as a sign of respect.
(3) Pause to ensure the camera captures a clear photo of you holding your certificate.
(4) Exit the stage through the left stairs or ramp and return to your assigned seat by walking around the back of the ballroom.
Tossing the Hat
As the UOWD President concludes the ceremony and the confetti begins to fall, that's your cue to toss your hat and celebrate your achievement!
Canapés Reception
After the ceremony, you will be guided to the canapé reception to celebrate with your fellow graduates and guests.
