2nd UOWD Inter-University Sports Festival 2005

University of Wollongong in Dubai organized the annual inter-university sports festival from 11th Dec to 14th Dec in Al Mawakeb school, Al Barsha. Volleyball(men), Basketball(women) & Basketball(men) tournaments were conducted for the event. Bits Pilani, MGU, Mahe, UOS, AUD, HCT Sharjah, Skyline, Al Ghurair & UOWD took part in the 4 days of events. In the Volleyball men's tournament AUD defeated MGU in the finals by 3-1 margin, Niaz from MGU was declared as 'Player of the Tournament' for his brilliant performances throughout the tournament. He received a DVD player sponsored by Panasonic. In the Basketball women's section it was AUD once again walking away with the trophy with ease. The AUD girls were too strong for Bits Pilani as they won the match by a 62-6 margin. Hanna from AUD was declared 'Player of the Tournament' for her scintilating performances in the tournament. Hanna also received a DVD player sponsored by Panasonic. In the Basketball men's finals AUD were given a tough fight by UOWD before they went on to win the match by 57-43. Marwan from AUD received the 'Man of the Tournament award'. Marwan was presented with a digital camera sponsored by Panasonic. All the matches were played on a knock out basis, Oladiji Dada, Residence Coodinator, UOWD presented the trophies & medals for the winning and runner-up teams. Franky Barreto, Sports Coordinator at UOWD, gave the vote of thanks. Pocari Sweat sponsored energy drinks for the whole event. To see more photos of this event, please click here.
