CBSE topper joins UOWD with full scholarship

Thursday, 05 June, 2014

The University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) is welcoming the UAE’s highest ranked student in the CBSE Commerce Stream for the second year in a row – an endorsement of the University’s academic excellence by high achieving students.

Sachin Nair joins the Bachelor of Commerce in Finance program on a 100% scholarship, following in the footsteps of previous Commerce topper and fellow Indian High School graduate Odelyn Barreto, who is entering the second year of her BCom Accounting degree at UOWD.

Having scored 97.6% in the exam, Sachin was delighted yet surprised by his success, saying he never expected to be ranked first in such a challenging and competitive stream. He will be enrolling for the summer semester at UOWD, which will see him get a head start on his degree.

With ambitions to become a financial consultant, he believes that UOWD’s BCom Finance program will provide the foundations for a career in Dubai’s growing financial services sector.

On being awarded a full scholarship for his studies at UOWD, Sachin said, “Opportunities like this only come around once. UOWD is a well-established institution with a good academic reputation. The BCom Finance program fits well with my future career goals and I am really looking forward to starting out on life at University.”
