Rockstar' Ranbir Kapoor rocks UOWD

Wednesday, 09 November, 2011

Bollywood sensation Ranbir Kapoor, lead actor of new movie 'Rockstar', accompanied by his co-star Nargis Fakhri and director Imtiaz Ali, visited the University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) and swept the students off their feet. UOWD was the only university in the UAE chosen by the Rockstar team as part of a Dubai tour to promote the forthcoming film. Students lined up expectantly two hours before the arrival of Ranbir and his team. Those who pre-registered were lucky enough to sit inside the Lecture Theatre, while others had to be content with waiting in the lobby to catch a glimpse of the stars. Radio Spice 105.4 FM, the official sponsor of the tour, entertained the waiting students with quiz competitions and games. Students dressed like Rockstars were seen at the venue. The University band Bolly Beats was present to add to the festivities. On his arrival, Ranbir and his team were greeted by UOWD President David Rome and his team and then led to the venue. Ranbir, Imtiaz and Nargis first greeted the students in the lobby from the first floor balcony. As the students went wild with excitement, Ranbir charmed the crowds by talking to them briefly and shouting 'I Love You'. Imtiaz and Nargis also interacted with the screaming students. As he entered the Lecture Theatre, there was a frenzy, with news photographers surrounding the stars and students rushing closer to take snaps with their mobile phones. Ranbir then joined the university band and sang a few lines from 'Sadda Haq', the popular anthem from Rockstar movie. Ranbir and his team then left UOWD to continue their promotional touring in Dubai, which included a visit to the nightclub Chi@TheLodge.
