Tuesday, 05 June, 2018
The University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) has honoured their top undergraduate students at a ceremony celebrating the 2018 Dean’s Merit awards. The Dean's Merit List is an annual listing of students who achieve grades in the top 5% in their faculty and recognises the achievements of students who excelled in their academic endeavours throughout the year. This year, 17 students from the Faculty of Business and 7 students from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences made it onto the list.” “It gives me immense joy and pride to realise that my hard work and dedication throughout the year has been recognised and appreciated by the University. But apart from that, it gives me the motivation and I feel responsible to continue along the path and probably even try harder to polish my skills, learn more and make the best use of it for the world”, commented Sreelakshmi Achuthan, a Bachelor of Commerce (Accountancy) student. Bachelor of Electrical Engineering student, Czarina Copiaco said: “Being a part of the Dean’s Merit List is both a challenge and a motivation as I consider it to be a way of setting standards for myself, in order to push myself to the best of my abilities and always strive to become a better learner. Moreover, I also take it as a privilege to be acknowledged for my efforts in my constant pursuit for further knowledge in my chosen field”. Professor Khalid Hussain, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences paid tribute to the hard work and academic endeavour displayed by all the award winners. The awards were presented by the Acting Dean of the Faculty of Business, Dr Payyazhi Jayashree and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences, Professor Khalid Hussain.
