UOWD hosts the Indian Consul General

University of Wollongong in Dubai hosted the Indian Consul General Sanjay Verma and Indian Consul C. Jaideep on Monday, 21 May at the University campus.UOWD President Professor Ghassan Aouad, senior UOWD staff and several Indian students from attended the luncheon event.There are currently over 750 Indian students enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate programs at UOWD. These students come from both within the UAE and from India. In addition, close to 1,900 Indian alumni have graduated from the university to date.Ever since it started operation in the UAE in 1993, UOWD has been a preferred option for higher education in the region for Indian students, both UAE residents and from India.The Consul General addressed the students, encouraging them to go beyond the books and the prescribed course in pursuit of knowledge and self-development. He also spoke about the growth of the Indian economy and subsequent growth in employment opportunities and how some of the current students may need to head to India to progress professionally.The Consul General was presented with an Australian memento by the UOWD President at the occasion, who spoke about the long-lasting business and personal ties between the UAE and India and expressed pleasure at welcoming the honourable guests at the University.
