UOWD Theatre Club awarded first place at the Watt-Fest

The University of Wollongong in Dubai’s Theatre Club, recently won the title of ‘Master of Theatre’ during the Wattfest event held at the Herriot Watt University campus. Led by Aman Bhatia, President; Anushka Gupta, Vice-President and Muskan Lalwani, Creative & Logistics Head, the club recently performed at the Wattfest in a play called 'Director's Cut’, which has been directed and written by Saif Khan. Being their first performance of the year, they excelled and won the first place. Watt-Fest is an inter-university annual cultural festival organised by Heriot-Watt University Dubai, with participation from universities all over the UAE and includes a number of cultural, academic and sports events. Other competitors on the day included Bits Pillani, Manipal, Middlesex, Amity and Murdoch University. The UOWD Theatre club, consisting of undergraduate and postgraduate students, was awarded second place in the previous year. “The club’s ultimate goal is to perform in all major theatre competitions, conduct acting workshops at the University and to encourage students to take up drama as an extracurricular student activity”, commented Aman Bhatia, President of the club. “It is fun and creative and provides you with the opportunity to be whomever you want to be”, he added.
