UOWDs Cricket Star Pranav Arora, a University of Wollongong in Dubai student won the match for the university team beating Ajman University in the Maxtalent Inter University cricket tournament at the Zabeel Park ground. Gulf News Senior Sports Reporter K.R. Nayar wrote: The UAEs promising player Pranav Arora displayed his talent as an outstanding all-rounder by cracking a brilliant century in the ongoing Maxtalent Inter University cricket tournament at the Zabeel Park ground. Playing for University of Wollongong, Dubai (UOWD) against Ajman University, Arora hit a century off just 56 balls studded with six sixers and ten boundaries. Arora, who began as a leg spinner, is a fine batsman today. He had led the UAE Under-17 team in the Asian Cricket Council trophy in Malaysia in 2005.UOWD skipper Vivek Reji won the toss and elected to bat. Reji and Arora put on a 122-run partnership for the first wicket. After Reji fell for 48, Mudassir and Prithivi chipped in with 22 runs each. Arora went on to hit 100 and UOWD posted a mammoth 212 for 4 in the 20 overs. Ajman University, playing in this tournament for the first time, could muster only 144 for 9. Mahmoud top scored with 27 runs. He also took two wickets but his effort was not enough to beat his opponents. Pranav has been on a sports scholarship at UOWD since 2007, and has been an important member of the UOWD cricket team. He says, studying at UOWD and on a sports scholarship has given me an opportunity to excel in my academics as well as sports which I love the most.
